Filmmaker Seeks Production Grants!

Artist/Writer/Filmmaker Bob Freville is looking for grants/donations/investments for a series of low-budget, avant-garde and/or experimental film projects. After several frustrating attempts at raising capital for these projects through sundry non-profit organizations and other film-related enterprises, Freville and his cohorts decided to take to the streets and address the People. Enter Fund-A-Friend, a forum for individual Causes. Lo, here we are, asking that you consider the following and remember the importance and genuine value of cinema. Films can inform us, enlighten us and entertain us, and Bob Freville aims to do all three with a series of projects chock full of social commentary, sight gags and visual style. The first film is a 6-page avant-garde short entitled "Onus", the # 1 installment in a proposed Trilogy about Sex, Family and Brotherhood. The story centers on male-on-male bonding and the prospective homosexual consequences of such encounters. It also explores the date rape dangers of alcohol & drug binging while pushing the boundaries of super-imposition and kaleidoscopic colors. Freville has set the proposed budget for "Onus" at $30,000 and plans to shoot on digital video (see: "Once Upon A Time in Mexico", "Full Frontal", "Chuck & Buck", "28 Days Later", etc.). Costs will include a director of photography w/ necessary equipment, a meat locker (for one scene) and a room at the Hilton. Only 3 actors are needed for this production. "Harmless Games" is a 60-page "feature" concerning a group of teenagers whose imaginary party and childish game of Truth or Dare ends up having fatal consequences when an enigmatic killer decides to show up and avenge his parents' death. As it turns out, the teens in question are young descendants of his parents' killers, and he will stop at nothing to exact revenge. This deconstructionalist take on the horror genre will use POV, atmospherics, improvisation and non sequitur interruptions by a Film Professor to flip the switch on the thriller as we know it, creating a cinematic experience far superior to your garden variety "Scream" rip-off. Budget: TBA; Freville is seeking a line producer for this film and hopes to afford House of 1000 Corpses/HBO's Carnivale star Bill Moseley for a cameo appearance (Freville has spoken with the actor in emails and interviewed him for Kevin Smith's Movie Poop Shoot website). The budget is estimated at $50-70,000. Finally, "Upside Down" is an ambitious autobiographical tragicomedy about a young Long Island man coping with a serious break-up while battling his inner-demons and trying to resist the temptations of his social life. His efforts are made that much harder by an array of Mephistophelean friends and local eccentrics, all of whom seem hell-bent on dragging him down. Irony, transvestites, carnival barkers and aliens are but a few of the delicious offerings that "Upside Down" contains. Fundamentally, a statement about the need for romance, acceptance and belonging, the film takes us on a very subjective journey through the Long Island drug subculture and into the depths of twenty-something apathy. Budget: TBA; Freville is seeking a line producer for this film and hopes to shoot on super 16mm or 35mm format. Any and all donations/grants are welcome for these interesting cinematic projects. Please consider donating or raising money for these genuine artistic expressions. Art may be priceless, but movies cost money to make. Thank you!
